Responsibilities

  • Projects may include research on state laws, implementation of public policy activities, advocating government funding initiatives and identifying new opportunities favorably advancing the company's influence with the government.
  • Assists and supports the organization in complying with, as well as the ongoing preparation and monitoring of conformance to, the requirements of government regulations and/or regulatory agencies.
  • May serve as point of contact for interactions with regulatory agencies for defined matters.
  • Performs the coordination and preparation of document packages for regulatory compliance from all areas of the company.
  • Compiles all materials required in submissions, license renewal and annual registrations.
  • Advises internal departments of changes of regulatory compliance.
  • Monitors and improves tracking regulatory systems.
  • Keeps abreast of regulatory procedures and changes.
  • Directs and interacts with regulatory agencies on defined matters.
  • Designs plans for government outreach by providing analysis of emerging or existing legislative public policy issues impacting the company. Gathers intelligence and assists in the preparation of position papers, policy briefings and presentations.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, government relations, law, or related field is typically required. Advanced degrees, such as a master's or Juris Doctor (JD), is nice to have.

Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, lobbying, or related roles, with a focus in workers' compensation or PIP auto industry.
  • Experience working in government agencies, legislative offices, or advocacy organizations is highly valued.
  • Understanding of the workers' compensation system, including laws, regulations, administrative processes, and industry dynamics at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Familiarity with key stakeholders, such as insurance carriers, employers, injured workers, medical providers, and regulatory agencies, is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of workers' compensation policy issues, trends, and developments, including emerging topics such as medical treatment guidelines, utilization review, fee schedules, and legislative reforms.
  • Experience researching law either in Lexis Advance or Westlaw;
  • Experience reading and interpreting law as well as being able to summarize the law in writing; and tracking of laws and compliance issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience preparing and presenting advocacy materials, such as policy briefs, position papers, testimony, and talking points, is crucial.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
