Job Summary

The Engagement and Events Coordinator is responsible for enhancing visibility of TRIO Student Support Services programs through social media and promoting the program mission and services. This role supports the planning, organization, and execution of a variety of events and activities designed to support the personal, academic, and career development of TRIO program participants.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Creates social media content and uses social media platforms to communicate TRIO program information to various audiences.
  • Promotes TRIO program events, workshops, and activities through social media channels, fliers, websites, and Canvas. Creates live posts during events and shares post-event highlights.
  • Develops and implements outreach strategies to connect with potential program participants, including first-generation college students, low-income students, and students with disabilities.
  • Conducts campus information sessions, tabling, and presentations to raise awareness of TRIO Programs services and eligibility requirements.
  • Assists with the planning and coordination of events for TRIO Student Support Services participants, including workshops, presentations, cultural events/trips, and annual events.
  • Assists with the oversight of event logistics, including scheduling, venue selection, catering, audiovisual needs, and transportation.
  • Creates and implements promotional strategies to raise awareness and encourage participation in events.
  • Collects and analyzes data related to event attendance, participant feedback, and overall impact. Uses assessment results to inform future event planning and improvements.
  • Cultivates and maintains partnerships with campus departments, student organizations, and external entities to enhance event offerings and resources, expand outreach efforts and resources, and cross promote initiatives.
  • Ensures consistent branding across all social media platforms and alignment with university guidelines.
  • Stays informed about relevant policies, guidelines, and best practices related to social media usage in an educational setting.
  • Assists with the hiring, onboarding, and training of Student Office Assistants. Provides supervision and guidance for Student Office Assistants as assigned.

Other Duties:

  • Assists with data collection for grant reporting purposes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience in social media, marketing, event planning, or other related field.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Experience working with low-income students, first generation students, and students with disabilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge and experience designing, implementing, and assessing the effectiveness of marketing strategies and promotional materials.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to design promotional and marketing materials including brochures, newsletters, fliers, and web content.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.

Pay Grade 14

This is a grant funded position with anticipated refunding. Although renewal of grant is expected, position is contingent upon renewal of grant.
