Job Summary:
Perform Metallurgical Services functions through chemical analysis of heat samples, hot billet inspection and inventory control, and managing billet hot charging. Maintain and operate spectrometer, Leco analyzer, and related equipment to examine the chemical composition of heats from melting and casting. Disposition non conforming heats as needed. Maintain and operate the slag analyzer and related equipment for determination of slag composition in melting. Inspect hot billets at the caster for surface and dimensional conformity to orders. Coordinate hot charging of heats with the mill. Assess product grade change samples to maintain traceability during rolling. Record, verify and submittest and inspection results to supervisor.
