POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist is a key member of the CIRCOR Aerospace and Defense EHS Team. This position will focus on risk management and continuous improvement in EHS performance. The EHS Specialist will assure compliance with all applicable EHS policies and resolve EHS deficiencies and/or issues. This role will have responsibility for safety and environmental administration, including but not limited to incident management & reporting, incident prevention, technical procedures, assessments and inspections, and site-wide training. This position reports directly to the Sr. EHS & Facilities Manager.

Principle Activities Implements environmental, health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and environmental rules and regulations.

  • Conduct various EHS inspections and manage processes such as HazWaste, SPCC & SWPP, chemical management, emergency preparedness, emergency drills and response and facility safety related equipment and needs.
  • Ensure all contractors and employees receive all the training necessary to safely perform their respective duties and track training to ensure compliance and understanding of facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead employee engagement in programs such as departmental inspections, proactive safety observations, safety committee safety fairs, March Madness, and other emphasis including weekly employee safety toolbox talks.
  • Implements, trains and audit site personnel and contractors on various EHS policies and programs, including, but not limited to safe work practices, material handling, LOTO, JSAs, PPE, HazCom and other applicable requirements.
  • Identifies, suggests, and tracks corrective measures to eliminate potential incidents and near hits and to suggest/implement means to achieve site EHS goals.
  • Inspects the facility to detect potential hazards and compliance and works with site personnel to determine corrective or preventative measures and track corrective measures to closure.
  • Drives the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Creates and disseminates robust incident summaries and related EHS educational topics facility wide including safety stand-downs, as necessary.
  • Is available as the on-call representative to respond to potential EHS or security needs.
  • Compiles and submits internal EHS, Corporate and other regulatory reports and timelines as required.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting, perform other EHS duties as assigned.

  • Well-developed knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental programs.

  • Ability to work well with others and able to work within the manufacturing areas for ~ 85% of the time.

  • Ability to use successfully root cause and problem-solving tools to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in Manufacturing with Safety Programs such as Lockout-Tagout, Industrial Vehicles, Hoisting Equipment, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Ergonomics, and Industrial Hygiene Programs.
  • Experience and knowledge in Environmental Programs / Inspections.
  • Background in incident investigations, such as 5-Why, etc.
  • Ability to use platforms such as MSDS On-line, Brady LOTO Software, iLobby Emergency OS, Microsoft suite and Microsoft teams, etc.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety field. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • ASP or relevant certification preferred.
  • Five plus years' experience as an EHS focused role.
