Quality Inspection Lead & Level I Admin

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

LOCATION: Tampa, FL

DIRECT REPORTING: Quality Manager

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

Review daily tasks assignments from Quality Manager. Distribute work assignments to the inspection team and ensure completion according to schedule commitments. Ensure the inspection team meets quality standards, working efficiency, and EHS policy. Assist quality manager to improve the inspection process and procedures.

Perform and document mechanical, visual, and nondestructive inspections of assemblies and components. These activities shall require interfacing with various company departments, such as, but not limited to, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Sales, Quality Assurance, etc., and outside customer representatives.

Inspection to include correctness of product to applicable engineering, quality assurance and contract specified documents. Applicable assembly inspections shall include but not be limited to order requirements, test acceptability, product markings, customer required tagging/marking, product cleanliness, workmanship, proper installation and tightening of fasteners, proper preservation and packing and all packaging markings for completeness and accuracy. Also assist in other areas and functions associated with quality inspection to include NDT, GD&T, document review, and training of quality personnel.

Audit product assembly and test activities to ensure required operations are being performed in accordance with work order and contract requirement.

Principal Activities

  • Manage workflow in cells and execute priorities set up by supervisor
  • Tracks daily metrics
  • Maintains and tracks all Level I Material affiliated with U.S. Navy contracts to include issuing of POIS sheets and releases work in support of Level I Material efforts
  • Facilitates proactive communications with the customers regarding Level I parts
  • Assist with audits as related to contract compliance and level I disposition
  • Assist manager on identifying inspection priority with planning and manufacturing supervisors
  • Communicate with quality, manufacturing, and design engineering with non-conformances identification to resolve the issues
  • Daily team meetings between shifts to ensure continuity of priorities
  • Maintains quality records
  • Train new employees on the quality processes and tools
  • Works with manufacturing and quality personnel to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Perform in process and final inspection of machined parts and final assemblies to applicable drawings, quality assurance and contract requirements
  • Verify completed assemblies to meet drawing and testing requirements
  • Verify data plates / tags are marked correctly
  • Verify test reports are completed to all stated requirements
  • Identify and document items found to be nonconforming to drawing requirements and work with the Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to process these items
  • Interact with Engineering or other functional groups for problem solving
  • Complete required checklists and contract analysis sheets for the Maritime program
  • Participate quality clinic activities and contribute to quality improvements as required
  • Perform other Quality related tasks as required
  • Complete required courses and trainings as assigned by manager

Job Requirements:

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Inspection techniques i.e. NDT, Visual, In-process, & Final
  • Knowledge and use of basic inspection tools. i.e. calipers, micrometers, plug/thread gauges
  • Able to read and understand drawings
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T
  • Advanced computer skills. Proficient in MS Office
  • EHS awareness
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Frontline Leadership skills
  • Communication skills
  • Priority setting skills
  • Flexibility on overtime

Education & Experience

  • HS Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Certifications/training records to match the advanced inspections skills
  • 6+ years of experience in inspection
