POSITION SUMMARY:

The Energy business development (BD) proposal department manager provides exceptional leadership and supervision to the Energy Market Inside Sales BD team by fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. This person will be the primary liaison for proposal development resource requests within the Energy Market. They will collaborate seamlessly with the Energy Market Leader and client service managers (CSMs) to align strategic pursuit efforts alongside the Energy Market BD teams, driving strategic business expansion and achieving ambitious growth targets. They will report to and collaborate with the Inside Sales BD strategic proposal group manager to roll-out and foster the proposal development processes, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness by using enabling technologies such as AI. Overall, this person will foster a positive collaborative environment, encouraging cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing among team members. They will provide expert guidance and mentorship to direct reports, fostering professional growth and development. Lastly, they will continuously monitor key performance metrics and help implement data-driven improvements to optimize proposal development outcomes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as direct manager for Inside Sales Energy BD Team.
  • Coordinate with fellow Inside Sales BD Leadership team to monitor and balance workload and align effective resource management to win work.
  • Collaborate and educate direct reports related to new technology (e.g., AI), automation and innovation across pursuit and proposal creation phases - contributing to the optimization of BD ROI and resource management.
  • Develop and implement plans to build and maintain positive team morale, retention, collaboration, communication and performance.
  • Support the development of continuously improved pursuit and proposal-related processes, tools, systems and training to improve proposal efficiency and quality.
  • Follows Project Delivery Model (PDM) sales process and policy for strong and consistent compliance across the Energy Market. Continuously apply the use of and adherence to corporate standards, policies and processes. Participate in Go No/Go discussions when needed.
  • Help when needed to provide strong facilitation of win-theme development and pursuit tiering across the Energy Market to help with continuous improvement and shared learning.
  • Direct and guide response teams through complex and high-profile pursuit processes, keep teams focused on key messages and pursuit priorities and implement lessons learned.
  • Participate in capture planning sessions, proposal reviews, and development of interview presentations, including coaching, for major pursuits, when needed.
  • Identify best practices and recommend better methods for creating proposal materials and improving the appearance of presentation materials.
  • Participate in debrief sessions when appropriate and use results to refine future pursuit strategies and training.
  • Coordinate with the inside sales strategic proposal group manager and ISM leadership team to identify improvements to BD processes and standards as related to proposal development.
  • Manage career paths and professional development plans, training administration and expertise development.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field.
  • Proven leadership and staff development skills.
  • 15+ years of experience in proposal development in A/E/C industry.
  • 10+ years of experience managing an Energy proposal team within the A/E/C industry is a plus.
  • Experience in public speaking, presentation, training and interview coaching.
  • Superior graphic and presentation experience. Proficiency in Word, InDesign and PowerPoint software.
  • Exceptional experience with capture planning and proposal development.
  • Experience with Deltek VantagePoint is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Typical physical demands associated with working in an office environment. Occasional visits to other offices may be necessary.

Base Compensation: $90,600 - $119,600
