Position Summary

The Instructional Coach - Career and Technical Education role ensures high-quality instruction in career technical classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to Career and Technical Teachers/Instructors responsible for the instruction, training, and guidance of youth/participants within a trade or industry.

Essential Job Duties

  • Partner with the Director of Education and Workforce Development Team Members to enhance teaching strategy and delivery methods to meet the needs of the individual Programs and teachers,
  • Guide/support the instructional development of AMIkids Career and Technical Teachers/Instructors incorporating the effective use of the Personal Growth Model (PGM), blended learning environments, instructional strategies for target population, and data-driven best practices,
  • Monitor Programs within assigned geographical region to ensure recognized standards, trade and training specifications comply with instructional guidelines and industry recognized credentials and courses are documented and reported internally, locally, and with the state for proper certifications and credits,
  • Travel, up to 50% of the time with some overnight stays, to provide train-the-trainer support to instructors and/or ensure industry-recognized certifications are earned by youth,
  • Provide direction and coordination of curriculum and instructional delivery consistent with applicable state requirements, AMIkids guidelines, and recognized instructional best practices,
  • Design, coordinate and deliver AMIkids Teachers' Academy workshops to ensure common instructional methodologies are taught to and used by the Career and Technical Teachers/Instructors and enhance use of educational tools,
  • Prepare and submit reports timely (e.g., coaching logs, education reports, and grant required documentation, etc.),
  • Develop action plans to support youth/participant career development goals,
  • Identify and develop interdisciplinary and /or project-based learning lessons that support workforce development skills,
  • Develop a suite of follow-up activities to support areas identified on career interest surveys,
  • Assist Career and Technical Teachers/Instructors and administrators with digital platforms, resources, materials, tools, information, assessments, and data analysis to improve instruction and youth/participant achievement,
  • Model, train, and coach effective instructional strategies in individual and/or group settings,
  • Observe lessons and provide feedback for teacher's/instructor's professional growth and youth/participant success; this is not an evaluative observation,
  • Assist Career and Technical Teachers/Instructors and administrators with Individual Service Plans (ISPs/ISSs) and monthly reviews, ensuring plans include SMART goals and objectives,
  • Establish and maintain organized files and records based on Program and/or funding requirements,
  • Contribute to the development and revision of education policies and procedures including making recommendations based on knowledge of projects and programs,
  • Analyze Program progress against funding requirements and develop corrective action plans (CAPs) to meet stated goals,
  • Maintain appropriate level of professionalism and confidentiality,
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience

  • Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred,
  • Minimum 3 years' experience teaching in a Career or Technical role, with a record of successfully impacting youth/participants, preferably at a Title I or like setting,
  • Experience using classroom-level and school-wide data effectively to guide instructional decisions,
  • Prior work experience in the construction field required,
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30 or other trade related certification (i.e.: Forklift, Electrical, Construction, Masonry and/or HVAC) preferred,
  • Prior adult training experience preferred,
  • Previous work as an Instructional Coach preferred,
  • Previous leadership experience, preferred.
