Domestic Operations (DOMOPS) Desk Specialist

This position requires an active Secret clearance.

The DOMOPS Desk Specialist shall provide personnel to ensure 24/7 coverage of the DOMOPS desk. Duty location is typically the 601 AOC and/or within CONR-1 AF/A4SO based upon the need of mission. Contingencies, and exercises, may dictate relocation to a new duty location temporally.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Domestic Operations (DOMOPS) Desk Specialist: Pay commensurate with experience.

Domestic Operations (DOMOPS) Desk Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE)/CC (and higher headquarters (HHQ)) information requirements and immediate response coordination with respective agencies for all non-air domain incidents, events, or activities which fall under the authorities or missions assigned to CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE). This includes, but is not limited to, Homeland Defense (HLD), Antiterrorism (AT), Force Protection (FP), Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN), Theater Security Cooperation (TSC), and post disaster support, as required.
  • Direct and perform initial and follow-on reporting of Commander's Information Requirements (Critical, CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE) Supplemental, and
  • Force Protection), Requests for Information (RFI), and Senior Leader Special Interest Items for the DOMOPS Desk.
  • Be able to simultaneously coordinate up, down, and laterally in verbal and written forms to ensure timely reporting, analysis, and notification to affected officials and organizations throughout the USNORTHCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Monitor and coordinate reports with DSCA, National Security Emergency Preparedness Directorate (NSEP), and AF Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), as required.
  • Coordinate with respective SMEs to support nine MAJCOMs, multiple Field Operating Agencies (FOAs), and one Direct Reporting Unit (DRU), as well as other outlier organizations which comprise the CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE) enterprise. This includes Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS), Western Air Defense Sector (WADS), Joint Air Defense Operations Center (JADOC), Alaskan Command (ALCOM), and National Guard Bureau (NGB)/A4/7, and other Service Component Commands (SCCs), when needed. This coordination also includes incidents or activities which affect Air Force assets/equities (personnel, aircraft, equipment, etc.) within the USNORTHCOM AOR.
  • Coordinate, implement, and execute processes associated with either the CDRUSNORTHOM or CDRAFNORTH/AFSPACE's Critical Information Requirements (CCIRs), AFNORTH/AFSPACE Supplement Information Requirements (ASIRs), and CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE) FP Information Requirements (FPIRs). This includes but is not limited to drafting SPOT Reports (SPOTREPs), drafting executive summaries, building briefing slides, drafting, coordinating, and disseminating CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE) Commander FP directives and messages.
  • Monitor all current and future information systems/platforms (classified and unclassified) and report activities affecting Air Force and Space Force assets/equities to include, but not limited to, messaging, communications systems, resources, and equipment.
  • Handle, process, draft, edit, and review law enforcement sensitive materials.
  • Update all identified supporting documentation/media for inclusion into the CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH/AFSPACE) Daily Mission Summary slides, and the Commander's Update Briefing (CUB) slides.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert of DOMOPs under the lens of Continuous Process Improvement and Lean.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Domestic Operations (DOMOPS) Desk Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • This position requires 5-8 years of experience within the Command and Control and/or Law Enforcement fields to meet this requirement.
  • Previous experience in coordinating domestic operations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among various teams and departments.
  • Experience in managing and responding to domestic emergencies or crisis situations, implementing contingency plans and ensuring a swift and coordinated response.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams, government agencies, and external partners during domestic operations.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to assess situations, identify potential risks, and develop effective response strategies.
  • Capacity to adapt to rapidly changing situations and adjust domestic operations plans accordingly.
  • Effective leadership skills to guide and coordinate teams involved in domestic operations, ensuring a cohesive and efficient response.
  • Ability to identify and address challenges during domestic operations, offering effective solutions to mitigate risks and achieve operational objectives
  • Knowledge of emergency planning principles and the ability to develop, implement, and update domestic operations plans.
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, first responders, and community organizations, to enhance the effectiveness of domestic operations.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
