The Business Winning Capture Director is a new position reporting to the Vice President of Business Winning. To support Draper's growth projections, we are seeking an experienced business winning professional to support all operations of the Business Winning function. This primarily includes supporting the implementation of industry's gold standard capture and proposal process tailored to our agile R&D organization. The successful candidate will have a passion for innovation and extensive experience in an R&D environment focused on capturing business with US Government and commercial customers.

Our core R&D business requires a nuanced approach to capture leadership. Agile processes are required to support small, study-type efforts while also effectively responding to large system development programs. This role will support those processes and drive consistency of application - and thereby enhance the Draper brand amongst our customer and the broader National Security ecosystem. This position will work closely with the VP of Business Winning as well as the Business Area Leadership and Program Offices, Strategic Initiatives Office, Engineering, Contracts, Communications, Administrative Staff, and other functions, as required.

Main responsibilities include:

Supporting the development and maintenance of the business capture process including the creation and maintenance of capture process templates and artifacts
• Leading and coaching teams through the established business capture process, including (but not limited to):
  • developing and executing capture and shaping strategies/plans
  • aligning marketing intelligence with capture strategies
  • assessments of customer's issues and program requirements
  • program/competitor analyses, including price-to-win analyses
  • preparing and briefing status to Leadership
  • developing executive summaries and other proposal sections
  • participating in and facilitating color team reviews
• Supporting the implementation and use of Customer Resource Management (CRM) tool
• Co-developing and executing Business Winning training program
• Supporting and driving continuous improvement activities
• Coaching and mentoring personnel

This position can be located in Reston, VA, Cambridge, MA or St. Petersberg, FL. Draper has a hybrid workforce and 1-2 days per week of work-from-home is available to this position. Occasional travel to Draper's regional offices may be required to support staff at those locations.

Required Qualifications:

• 15+ years of business development and capture experience, preferably in a government contract setting

• Bachelor's Degree in Technical/Engineering field

• Demonstrated experience in leading Capture/Proposal teams through buiness capture process

• Demonstrated understanding of Business Development, to include pipeline development and reporting, as well as strategic planning and customer engagement

• Ability to support proposal development, including leading teams and writing proposal responses

• Ability to coordinate and collaborate with and across all company functional areas to achieve strategic and operational goals and to drive closure on action plans

• Assertive and able to maintain confidentiality, as required

• Effective problem-solving skills and able to prioritize work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

• Experience with continuous process improvement

• Effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools

• Must have or be able to achieve Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Foundation-level Certification and Capture Practitioner Certification within first 90 days

• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Technical/Engineering field
• Strong business acumen and demonstrated track record of providing innovative solutions to complex problems
• Experience leading and managing geographically dispersed teams
• Active DoD Security Clearance
