Summary

As part of the Interoperability Group within the Software Engineering Department, the candidate will help develop interoperability solutions on all of our major programs. The Interoperability engineer will develop software and hardware solutions for the inter-operation of virtual trainers in a distributed environment with other virtual trainers, constructive simulations, or live exercise participants. The Interoperability engineer will also research latest technologies mainly in the area of networking and connectivity. The training environment is enriched with constructive entities provided via third party solutions or locally generated entities. The candidate will integrate third party tools such as middleware, tactical environments, federation management tools, stealth viewers, federation test tools and federated debrief systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for code, test, and documentation of software systems designs, requiring the application of current industry design concepts and utilization of basic technical writing skills.
  • These systems include either standalone or networked training devices.
  • Assignments will be geared towards real-time programming techniques for interoperability simulation applications.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required in this position, as interfacing with fellow group members and other engineering group members is essential.
  • The person in this position will be expected to report work status concisely and accurately to the Engineering Manager and Director as requested.
  • Must be able to perform effectively as part of the project "team".
  • Support Engineering Manager in Bid & Proposal of customer programs.
  • Occasionally, provide guidance and mentoring to junior level engineers

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of four-year degree in engineering or computer science.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience in the simulation or related industry.
  • Possess 4 years' experience with DIS and/or HLA.
  • Expected to have working knowledge and experience with recognized industry standards for interoperability of HLA and DIS. Knowledge of TENA, DDS or CTIA would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and mathematical modeling ability.
  • Technical areas of expertise must include current software development methodologies and tools.
  • Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation.
  • Secret security clearance is a plus.

Language Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
