Position Description

Entry Salary - $57,418.40 OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Under limited direction, the Senior Network Analyst supervises and provides expertise in the implementation, upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the City's computer networking systems. Solves challenging IT problems and provides support for the City's departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises, oversees, and provides high level troubleshooting skills to address problems or concerns with the City's network or network systems; supervises helpdesk ticket response, ensures efficient operations, troubleshoots problems, identifies issues, addresses concerns, and determines resolutions.

  • Delivers advanced professional and timely IT support to City departments; provides application support, manages enterprise firewall deployment, monitors switching and routing environments, supports CAD systems, and monitors various mobile security access platforms.

  • Interacts and engages with employees in various departments; defines network requirements and ensures compliance with City standards and policies; provides analytics regarding security, cost effectiveness, standardization, and general network system metrics.

  • Installs, configures, and maintains wireless network; monitors and maintains network systems throughout the City and its departments; provides analysis for security systems and maintains and deploys City web certificates for City websites and services.

  • Provides daily support and assistance to the members of the IT management team; oversees the citywide computer lease program and ensures that rotations of the systems are performed on schedule and in accordance with contractual obligations; avoids and minimizes unnecessary cost overages and expenditures.

  • Assesses and evaluates network environments consistently to ensure all systems employ the latest technology and adhere to industry direction; recommends and performs upgrades and enhancements to the network systems.

  • Provides administrative support for all user accounts; supports testing, installation, and maintenance of server and client software applications, hardware, and networks.

  • Responds to all public records requests brought to IT for email records and social media posts; adheres to department policies on information handling.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications:

A valid State driver's license is required.

This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides:

Fax, copier, phone, personal computer, specific computer programs, and other information technology equipment as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT Security, or Computer Engineering AND two (2) years of experience using operating systems, computer hardware components, networking hardware, and troubleshooting technologies; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
