Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our Tampa or Clearwater, FL office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations while solving our clients’ water resources challenges and to develop experience related to hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, geospatial data analysis, and reporting, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling;
  • Watershed and stormwater management design and analysis;
  • Water quality assessments;
  • Drainage design and permitting;
  • Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
  • Data management, analysis, and visualization;
  • Reviewing state and federal regulations & permits pertaining to surface water;
  • Fieldwork such as site visits/field operations oversight, stormwater infrastructure inventories and surface water sampling;
  • Water resources sustainability and resiliency planning; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings, tables, figures, specifications, and proposals.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, water resources, or biosystems engineering, environmental science or similar. (required)
  • Advanced degree in water resources engineering. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior research or professional experience with surface water/H&H modeling. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (required)
  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). (preferred)
  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling software such as ICPR, SWMM, or HEC-RAS. (preferred)
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
